The new bike path in the North Fremont Business District has received many awards including the prestigious  2020 Caltrans Excellence in Transportation Award,  Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Standing Committee Best Project Award — Pedestrian/Bike for its innovation. It also received the American Council of Engineering Companies of California’s (ACEC) Engineering Excellence Awards California 2020 Engineering Excellence Award. Funding is actively being sought to extend the bike path as part of a 30-mile regional network of paved recreational trails up to Fort Ord and California State University Monterey Bay (See more details below).
